October Half Term Holidays in Invigorating North Devon

Spend October half term in one of our holiday cottages and enjoy all that North Devon has to offer at this wonderful time of the year.

The nights are closing in and the weather is increasingly changeable (to put it lightly!), but this makes for a different type of holiday compared to summer, better in many ways.

Tranquil Autumn Breaks

It is a much quieter time of the year in North Devon, with the narrow lanes much easier to navigate, making it easier to seek out and discover those hidden gems. Experience the tranquility of an autumn morning in North Devon, which will set you up for a fine day of exploration, surfing, walking, or just unwinding and relaxing.

Enjoy the vigor, energy and unique vistas that Autumn has to offer, by exploring one of the many walks, criss-crossing the hilly North Devon countryside and coastline. Expose yourself to the elements and walk the hills overlooking Woolacombe and Putsborough beaches, where you may bump into the resident (for part of the year) Exmoor Ponies. Or, make an excursion to Exmoor, and immerse yourself in it’s raw ruggedness, then unwind in one of the cozy pubs next to a warm fire.

A Surfers Paradise

With miles of waves to choose from, between Woolacombe and Putsborough beaches, and plenty of parking along Marine Drive, you will be able to share waves with just family and friends.

This time of the year is a great time to surf in North Devon as the North Atlantic is energised by tropical storms spinning up from the tropics. This brings waves to the North Devon coastline, with many surfing options available, to suit beginners and professional alike. The best beaches for beginners are Woolacombe, Putsborough and Saunton, with Croyde, during autumn and winter, best suited to the more experienced surfer, with its powerful and sometimes violent waves.
